California Attorney General Sues YTB

I have chosen in the past to not say anything about this company (YourTravelBiz.com), out of respect for local individuals who really felt like they were getting into something good.  Many of us in the travel business have known from the start that the business model was not the kind that we could ever embrace.

Press Release issued by the California AG's office

The lawsuit accuses YTB and its founders of operating an alleged pyramid scheme in recruiting thousands of consumers with deceptive earnings claims. The filing claims that only 38 percent of YTB members earned any travel commissions last year, and those who did earned a median income of $39.

Other charges include unfair business practices and false advertising practices, as well as operating an illegal travel discount program and operating without filing legally mandated documents with California authorities.

The California attorney general has requested a court order to bar the company from making further false or misleading statements and to assess YTB a civil fine totaling at least $10 million.

Stay in Disney’s neighborhood for less

I am a strong proponent of staying in the Disney resorts because of all the benefits they offer.  But if you are really trying to do Disney on a budget, here is an excellent summary of the hotels in the area.

Go to MSNBC to read the article.

Remember, BrenCase Adventures is always ready to assist you with your Walt Disney World trip planning.  And another reminder:  you never pay more and you may get some extras that can only come from working with a knowledgeable travel agent.
